Affordability, ease of use, plenty of audio power, and high reliability were the primary engineering considerations for the PM501, our lowest cost intercom.
|
|
The PM501 provides all basic intercom capabilities plus many of the most advanced features usually only found in more expensive models. Among the best features:
- Individual output amplifiers for pilot, copilot, and passengers 1 and 2, giving enough audio punch to allow communications in very noisy environments.
- Voice Operated Relay (VOX) circuitry prevents mic audio from getting through the intercom until someone speaks or triggers the VOX open switch.
- Automatic fail-safe interconnect to the aircraft radio wires the pilot's headset to the aircraft radio in the event of disrupted power or related failure.
- Input jack giving pilots and passengers the option to listen to music during flight. During intercom activity, a mute feature will allow communications without distraction. Note that radio reception will NOT mute the music.
- Pilot isolate mode allows the pilot to communicate without interruption during critical phases of the flight while passengers talk and listen to music.
- Separate pilot and copilot transmit capabilities ensures that only the person pressing the PTT will be heard over the radio.
With the PM501, you get years of trouble-free operation in a very inexpensive unit. |

An Intercom that Tames the Noisiest of Aircraft

|
| Not only does it use our proven patented IntelliVox® automatic squelch circuit, but also includes our latest invention, the "Active Microphone Processor", better known as AMP™. This new system actively reduces noise that is picked up by the microphone, dynamically reducing the background noise heard in the headset when the VOX is opened.
There has never been an intercom that provides as much intelligibility as the PM1200, PERIOD.
This new intercom system will be able to tame the noise of cockpits such as the P-51, B-17, PV-2, T-6, T-28, and the Pitts S2B/C. We know because we have flown in all of these really noisy aircraft and know exactly what needed to be done!
The PM1200 also provide ample headset volume, with audio amplifiers that will supply to the general aviation headset as much as 120 mW (almost twice that of our regular intercoms) in 28 volt aircraft. Additionally, by a push of the Copilot volume control, the system will convert to VOX to PTT-ICS.
The unit can also be ordered in the Blind Mount configuration, allowing the owner to make the installation of this intercom completely in the confines of the original equipment of the aircraft. You can keep your aircraft authentic while still having the best intercom available. |

World's Smallest Audio Panel with Integrated Intercom and IntelliVox®

|
|
Intercom or 2 1/4" Hole Mounted - Audio Panel with Built-In Intercom
|
|
The PMA4000 is a 4-place panel mounted intercom with added capability for switching two communications transceivers and navigation receivers, as well as providing a speaker amplifier. The intercom features PS Engineering's exclusive IntelliVox® with individual volume controls for both the pilot and copilot.
- A multi-position mode switch allows the pilot to select either Pilot Isolate or All intercom modes.
- The ISO mode isolates the pilot from the intercom, and connects directly with the aircraft radios. The copilot and passengers are free to have conversation and enjoy the entertainment without radio interruption. The pilot is not distracted by passenger intercom use and has control over the radio communications.
- The "ALL" mode places everybody on a party line. Each person hears all intercom conversation and aircraft radio reception. Everyone hears the entertainment source as well.
- The "Off" mode is part of the automatic fail-safe interconnect to the aircraft systems. If power to the intercom is disrupted, the pilot's headset is automatically connected to the aircraft radio. This permits continuous radio communications.
The PMA4000 has independent intercom volume controls for the pilot, and the copilot. Because this system was designed with the tandem cockpit in mind, the copilot volume can be remote-mounted in another location. Because the pilot and copilot volume control does not affect the aircraft radio volume, balance between the intercom and radio audio is easily achieved. For instance, by reducing the pilot's intercom volume, the aircraft radio volume will be in the foreground, while the intercom will be at a background level.
The PMA4000 takes advantage of PS Engineering's revolutionary IntelliVox® intercom squelch system. By harnessing the computational power of microprocessors, the PMA4000 eliminates complicated squelch adjustments. In addition, by using independent microphone circuits unwanted noise is kept out of the audio. Since only the microphone being spoken into is open, extraneous cabin noise is minimized. Individual squelch controls mean that the system can be tailored to different microphones, as well as variations in voice levels in the cockpit.
The PMA4000 has two switched com transceiver inputs and two switched navigation receiver inputs. In addition, there are four un-switched audio inputs that can be used for other receivers or audio warnings such as autopilot disconnect or GPS alerts.
There is a built in speaker amplifier in the unit. Pushing the volume control will place all selected audio, or any un-switched audio present, over a cabin speaker.
With the PMA4000 installed, both pilot and copilot have transmit capability over the aircraft radios. Only the person who presses the PTT is heard over the radio. The selected com LED shows green when selected, and flashes during radio transmissions. This feature acts as a stuck microphone indication.
The COM transceiver switching is automatic. When the toggle switch microphone selector is in COM 1, the receive audio and microphone signals are both presented to the audio. The push button selector controls receive audio only., and is used to select multiple com receivers.
The PMA4000 provides entertainment input. When the intercom or aircraft becomes active, the music will automatically mute, allowing communications without distraction. When the activity cases, the Soft-Mute™ circuit gradually returns the music to the original volume. A slight delay prevents lost syllables and choppy conversation.
In our non-FAA certified unit, an optional internal digital recorder (p/n 11941) can provide up to one minute of stored aircraft radio reception. This device is a continuous loop recorder that automatically starts recording the instant a radio transmission is received, with no dead air time recorded. By pressing a momentary switch, the last recorded messages will be replayed. Up to 16 messages (or 1 minute) can be stored.
An optional configuration is available with a remote-mounted volume control for the copilot, a great option for tandem aircraft.

Aerocom® III - Third Generation Portable Intercom and First to have IntelliVox® |

|
Flexibility, portability, affordability, and ease of use make the Aerocom® III one of our most popular intercoms. |
|
|
The Intelligent Choice After a decade there is finally another portable intercom good enough to bear the PS Engineering name. The Aerocom III is the only portable intercom with IntelliVox®, a completely automatic VOX squelch. The same intercom VOX squelch used in the top-of-the line PMA7000MS audio panel.
Clear cockpit communications is as easy as a casual conversation with the Aerocom® III. No more fiddling with knobs.
No more clipped words. You don't need to reach for the intercom as you change power settings because the squelch processor is constantly monitoring each microphone, and adjusting the threshold for the ambient noise.
No more headset swapping and matching. Each microphone is handled independently, therefore, any combination of aviation headsets will work with the Aerocom® III.
A 9-volt battery or an aircraft power can power this 2-place intercom. A single 9-volt battery provides 10 hours of use. When the battery is nearing the end of its life, a gentle beep in the headset will remind the user that it is time for a change.
IntelliVox®, is what makes the Aerocom® III so remarkable. By harnessing the power of microprocessor electronics, each microphone can compute the difference between speech and cabin noise. It opens instantly when somebody talks. Each microphone has its own processor circuits so only the microphone spoken into is active. This prevents unwanted background noise from entering the audio system.
By using external push-to-talk buttons (not included), both the pilot and copilot positions have the ability to transmit over the aircraft radio. Only the person pushing their push to talk button will be heard.
The Aerocom® III will route stereo music to the headsets through the optional music cable. The music automatically mutes when there is intercom activity or radio traffic.
The Aerocom® III is expandable to 4-place with the Aerocom® EX expansion unit. This contains separate music input, it's own IntelliVox® , processors and independent volume control.
There are two modes controlled by a top-mounted switch. In "ALL" mode, both positions hear radio communications, music and have intercom capability. In the "ISO" mode, only the pilot side is connected to the aircraft radio, without intercom or music distractions. The copilot position continues to have music and intercom communications with an Aerocom® EX, if installed. |
